It has only been over three weeks since all of the major sporting leagues such as the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Hockey League (NHL), & Major League Soccer (MLS) have suspended its 2020 season due to the Coronavirus outbreak. So many important events such as the Masters Gulf tournament, N.C.A.A March Madness tournament, and Boston Marathon have been canceled or postponed. This outbreak has managed to put a big PAUSE in sports all throughout the country.
So what does this mean for ESPN? They are now tasked with trying to figure out what exactly to broadcast if there are no sports to talk about at the moment. You can tell from their Instagram page they are trying to get creative with content for viewers, but let’s be honest- how long will that really last? The uncertainty is what scares people because we don’t know how long this outbreak will last for.
For my guys out there that are totally confused about what to do, and missing sports alerts popping up on their phone throughout the day, well here are a few things you can do to pass the time. I’m sure you rolled your eyes.. but by Day 25 if you haven’t already, trust me you’re going to have to figure out another hobby until your favorite team resumes playing. Thanks to USAToday.com here are a few ways to use your time:
1. Binge sports movies like it’s no one’s business
2. Play your favorite sports video game
3. Get into competitive board gaming
4. Get really into a competitive reality TV show
5. Pick up a new craft
If you also have no clue what is going on in your household… now is the time to step it up. Just think about it this way, spend all the time you can with your wife, girlfriend, partner, & kids now, so when sports games resume no one will dare come your way when you are watching your favorite team back on the screen. Who even knows, they may even surprise you with tickets for being so helpful in the house. When you ask your wife to whip up some food for you & your friends to watch Sunday night football, she won’t even hesitate because of how attentive you were during this period. So use this time to your advantage fellas!
