Here is a safety list of things you normally would not think of regarding travel, home, food, etc :

1. When you pump your gas, make sure you lock your door. While you are busy facing the pump, someone can open your passenger door and steal something out of your car, or even worse try to drive off with it.

2. Ladies, stop leaving your purses open in public. It is easy especially when you are holding your purse on your shoulder for someone to take something out of your purse such as a wallet, especially if you are in a crowded area.

3. Don’t announce on social media that you will be traveling for an extended period of time. Only let those close to you know. Now you are giving an open invite to strangers to come and rob your home while you are gone for a week on a cruise. You can let everyone know you traveled when you return with pictures and videos to share.

4. When you valet your car, DO NOT hand them all your keys. All they need is the key to the engine and the key to lock the door if it is separate. Do not give them the opportunity to make a spare key to your house, while you are inside of the venue. Trust me it happens, that is why I am telling you. They also have access to your front compartment (if you keep it unlocked), which has papers with your house address on it. So just hand them ONE key, not a wad of keys that you use every day.

5. you go to a hotel, ALWAYS count how many doors you are away from the stairs. If a fire was to occur, you want to know how many doors to crawl past to make it out safely. Also when booking a room it is best to get a room from floors 3-8 (depending on the size of the hotel). You do not want to be on the first floor and sometimes second because that is easy access for criminals. But like stated above, if there is a fire, you do not want to be so far up.

6. When you enter your pin number on a keypad, after it has gone through, wipe your hands across the pad. The warmness from your fingers may still be there, making it easy enough for someone behind you to steal your pin number. So be careful when putting in your pin number. And also make sure you are standing in a way, someone behind you won’t record you inputting it in.

7. If someone is calling you regarding important information, don’t be so quick to issue out everything so fast. It might be someone pretending to be your credit card company, calling to match up the information they have. Just hang up and call back yourself. Don’t set yourself up for failure.

8. The GPS system in our phones, are lifesavers to many. But can also be detrimental to many as well. Try not to have too many personal addresses in your GPS. Use places nearby just in case your phone gets stolen. You would not want someone to have your personal house address.

9. When you travel, be sure to take pictures of everything, especially if you are checking in luggage. Take pictures of your luggage and the items you packed, just in case it happens to get lost, so you have proof of what was inside.

10. Keep a pack of water and nonperishable food items in your trunk in case of an emergency. You never know where you might get stuck, so make sure you have something to eat and drink while you try to assess the situation.

11. When you are traveling to an unknown area, be aware that you can get drugged other than in your drink. If it looks too good to be true, leave the meal alone, and find something else to eat.

12. Anytime you want to shop, please utilize some of the options that I have listed. Honestly, I do not care how much you have in your wallet, there are just some things you do not need to pay full price for. Groupon, RetailMeNot, Scout Mob, etc should be your best friend. These coupons can work online and in the store. These coupons can vary from restaurants, travel, clothing, electronics, beauty products, health, fun activities, and so much more. And they also have apps to add to your phone. So definitely check these out!

13. Check out if your favorite restaurant has certain deals on a certain day. Like ” Moes Mondays” or “60cent wings at Buffalo Wild wings on Tuesdays”.. There is always a discount somewhere. Also for college students, take advantage of all the discounts offered. When I was in college everyday of the week somewhere there would be a discount ranging from 10%- 45% off. We also had a coupon book for varies things around the school and community. So look and see what your school may offer !

14. Trying to eat healthier? Well to make things easier for yourself, and to not spend money on items you do not need, only shop the perimeter of the store. Meaning do not enter ANY of the aisles. All of your healthy whole foods and meat are on the outskirts of the store.
